Nerlens Noel Signs 10-Day Contract with Brooklyn Nets
Former Detroit Pistons Center Set to Join Playoff Contender
Free Agent Center Joins Brooklyn, Seeking Playoff Push
Former sixth overall pick Nerlens Noel has signed a 10-day contract with the Brooklyn Nets, his agent George Langberg told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Saturday.
Noel, 29, was waived by the Detroit Pistons on February 28th after agreeing to a buyout. The veteran center has played in 14 games for the Pistons this season, averaging 2.8 points and 4.8 rebounds in 13.1 minutes per game.
Noel is expected to provide depth and defense for the Nets, who are currently in eighth place in the Eastern Conference with a 34-23 record. The Nets are looking to make a deep playoff run this season, and Noel's experience and defensive presence could be valuable assets.
Noel has played for several teams throughout his career, including the Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, and Oklahoma City Thunder. He has averaged 7.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game over his career.
With his 10-day contract, Noel will have a chance to prove his worth to the Nets and earn a longer-term deal. If he can contribute to the team's success, he could be a valuable addition to their playoff rotation.
